Abstract :

Abstract

This Research deals with the singular human adjectives in the Holy Quran, as a semantic-grammatical study. The researcher divided his research into an introduction, three chapters and a conclusion.

In the First Chapter, the researcher counted and tabulated the singular human adjectives. He excluded the adjectives related to Allah, the Great and Almighty, as his adjectives are undoubtedly incomparable to any other's, provided that they are numerous enough to be dealt with separately. Likewise, the researcher has excluded the recurrent human relative pronouns as they can be searched separately, as well.

In the Second Chapter, the researcher discussed such adjectives in terms of their singularity, duality, plurality, genitive case, definiteness and indefiniteness, masculinity and femininity, in addition to their rules of attribution, predication ellipsis, affirmation and the aspects of using the adjective.

As for the Third Chapter, the researcher dealt with these adjectives and categorized them into positive, passive, common and neutral adjectives. The positive adjectives were related to God, angels, apostles and the believers. The passive ones implied those of the Satan and unbelievers, and evil. Neutral adjective, on the other hand, imply adjectives which are neither positive nor passive, such as قليل (few), كثير, (many), etc
