Abstract In the Name of Allah ,the most Gracious , the most merciful , with whom we are helped and peace and mercy may be upon our master Muhammad and upon his family and his honourable friends, and messengers. This study has come under the title of "water in Al-Buhturi and Ibn Zeidon poetry "_a balanced study-aiming at disclosing the picture of water in the tow poets' poetry. It adopted the poetry texts in the two poets' collections of poetry as it took these texts in studying and analyzing and limiting the topics connected with water. This study depended on limiting the vocabulary related to the subject of water which widely spread until it became a clear mark in the poetry of both of them as none of the scholars had come to the study of this subject in a specialized and detailed study ; and most of what had been mentioned about it was within what was written about the nature in the old Arabic poetry or in the studies which took part in the poetry of both of them . But this subject is wider than being entitled with words or chapter, but it needs a wide detailed study .so it dealt with this subject in the degree allowing the study of this phenomenon with some details . I tried to disclose the reason which pushed Al-Buhturi and Ibn Zeidon to take care of utterances of the water nature and its vocabulary . For this . I've divided this study into three chapters. In the first chapter , I used "The water utterances and its vocabulary in the poetry of Al –Buhturi and Iben Zeidon " I counted the utterances of rain ,clouds, rivers ,seas, snows, wells ,pools ,floods ,at the two poets' .then I clarified their linguistic meanings as they occurred in dictionaries , and showed the ratio of every utterance for each one of them supporting this by the poetic evidences. But in the second chapter which is in the title of water in the poetic purposes at both of the poets . In the first research , I spoke about the joint purpose at the two poets which are (Eulogy ,Yearning ,Description .Elegy ,Satire , Barms) and I studied some of the selected poetic examples in each purpose and how each one of them employed the water utterances and vocabulary as I started with eulogy as it is the most poetic purpose .Then yearning ,then elegy ,then description ,then satire ,then barms . and it was illustrated for me that both the poets had firmed the connection between the water qualities and the poem topic that led to their semilies meanings and pictures . In the second subject . I dealt with the objects which each poet singularized which of Al-Buhturi 's are (Erotic ,Pride ,Blame ,Wisdom), and at Ibn Zeidon's (complaint, beg ) In the third chapter ,the title was : the technical qualities for the poetry of water at Al-Buhturi and Ibn Zeidon where I dealt with in the first object The language "where from the suitability of utterances to the meant meanings ,repetition ,pun , antithesis , quote, inclusion) whereas in the second subject I dealt with "picture". And in it . I illustrated the most important resources and the used means in forming their pictures that formed an important part in their verses. But in the third subject , I excluded it on music where as I dealt with rhymes and rhythms and showed the extent of the two poets ' care in this side which Al-Buhturi surpassed Ibn Zeidon ,and which some researchers and critics named Ibn Zeidon Al-Buhturi of morocco . At the end of the subject . I included the clearest results which I came to whereas similarity between the two poets in dealing with topic of water did not stop emerging some differences as Al-Buhturi increased of mentioning the name of water and utterances in this poetry , and lengehened contemplation and thinking ,wherefrom Ibn Zeidon's poetry was not characterized by that depth ; this because of the political and social circumstances which Ibn Zeidon experienced had a role in the scarcity of his care and interest in this side of the nature sides compared by
